Prepared Childbirth Class

This series of three classes includes information on the emotional and physical changes of pregnancy, labor, and birth. Topics covered include ways to cope with labor, how your support person can help, routine hospital procedures, and pain relief options. During the class, you will also receive a tour of the Obstetrics Pavilion for Women, where you will give birth. The fee for this class series covers both the mother and a support person, and a support person is encouraged to attend.

Fee: $40.00

Monday Series: 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Tuesday Series: 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Fast Track Childbirth Seminar

This class presents content similar to the prepared childbirth class series; however, it is given in a condensed, one-day seminar format. A tour of the Obstetrics Pavilion for Women is included. The fee for this class also covers both the mother and a support person, and a support person is encouraged to attend.

Fee: $40

Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Breastfeeding Class

This class is designed for mothers who are planning on or thinking about breastfeeding their newborn. Basic concepts of breastfeeding are covered, including both the benefits and challenges of breastfeeding, latch, positioning, tracking feedings, and knowing if the baby is getting enough to eat. We also discuss transitioning back to work while breastfeeding and pumping. The fee for this class also covers both the mother and a support person, and a support person is encouraged to attend. 

Fee: $25

Wednesdays: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Here Comes Baby! Class

This class is designed to assist with the transition of the newborn to home. Parents will learn infant care and safety strategies that will decrease anxiety and allow them to feel confident when leaving the hospital. This is an interactive class, and parents will have the opportunity to practice holding, diapering, bathing, swaddling, feeding, and comforting techniques. The fee for this class covers both the mother and a support person, and a support person is encouraged to attend.

Fee: $25

Tuesdays: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. *In November, the class is on Wednesday.

Infant and Child CPR Class

This class is the American Heart Association Family and Friends course. It is a course that covers infants, children, and adults. It is a community-level course and will not result in a certification card. The fee for this class covers both the mother and a support person, and a support person is encouraged to attend.

Fee: $25

Mondays: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. *In September and December, the class is not on Monday. Please check the calendar.

Sibling Class

This class is designed to assist big brothers and sisters with the transition of bringing a newborn home. They will learn how babies are unique, what they eat, why they cry, and why they require so much attention. They will have the opportunity to make a gift for the baby to be brought to the hospital when the baby arrives. This is an interactive class, and siblings will have the opportunity to learn to help with diapering, bathing, swaddling, feeding, and holding a new baby. At least one parent or guardian must attend, and all participating children must be at least three years old.

Fee: $10 for the first child; $5 for each additional child

Saturdays: 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Labor and Birth Options Class

This class is offered in addition to the prepared childbirth and fast track courses for those interested in learning more about natural childbirth. This is a hands-on class where birth partners will get the chance to learn beneficial pain management and labor progression techniques, including partner support, massage, relaxation, position changes, birthing ball use, and aromatherapy. The fee for this class covers both the mother and a support person, and a support person is encouraged to attend.

Fee: $25

Thursdays: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
