Changes in Leadership: As we continue to grow and evolve as an organization, it is essential to ensure that our leadership structure aligns with our goals and objectives. With this in mind, we have made some strategic changes in leadership including:
Administrator Michelle Ward recently accepted the responsibilities of risk into her role. Michelle will assume the role of Chief of Quality and Risk for Anderson Healthcare. Michelle has been with Anderson Hospital since 2007 and has played various leadership roles within Health Information Management, Performance Improvement, Accreditation, Regulatory Reporting and Medical Staff. In her new role, Michelle will provide leadership over Medical Staff Services, Quality/Accreditation and Risk Management for the Anderson Healthcare System.
Chief Operating Officer for Anderson Hospital, Lisa Spencer, announced the appointment of Andrea Burns, RN, BSN, as the new Chief Nursing Officer. Andrea has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, with 23 of those being at Anderson Hospital. “Throughout her career, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills; inspiring and motivating her team to provide the highest quality of care,” said Lisa. “Andrea brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and heart to the Administration Department.”
Andrea has a proven track record of driving positive change and implementing innovative strategies to enhance patient outcomes. As our new CNO, she will play a pivotal role in shaping our nursing department’s future, ensuring the highest standards of care, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. She will work closely with our entire team to drive excellence in nursing practice, promote professional development, and enhance patient satisfaction.
Ashley Brown was recently promoted to the role of Director of Compliance and Privacy and will lead those services for the Anderson Healthcare System. Ashley has been with Anderson since December 2018. She began her role as Director of Health Information Management (HIM) and Privacy Officer. In that role Ashley was responsible for Anderson Medical Group and Community Clinic of Staunton data conversions, leadership collaboration on the Expanse Electronic Medical Record (EMR) implementation, the daily operations of the Anderson Hospital and Community Hospital of Staunton HIM departments, EMR downtime preparation and recovery efforts, as well as oversight of HIPAA compliance. As the Director of Compliance and Privacy, Ashley’s expanded role will design, develop, and oversee our System’s compliance and privacy programs. She will implement and maintain procedures and policies to streamline security, monitor compliance, manage conflicts of interest, and investigate issues or breaches.
Whitney Meyer was promoted to Director of Health Information Management (HIM) for Anderson Hospital. Whitney joined us in April 2019 serving as Manager of the HIM Department. She worked alongside Ashley Brown throughout her time here and will now serve as Director. HIM is the practice of acquiring, analyzing, and protecting digital and traditional medical information vital to providing quality patient care. It is a combination of business, science, and information technology… and it’s always changing! Best wishes to Whitney on her new position.
