Phone Scam Alert

May 30, 2024

ALERT:  Spoofers are using our main hospital number (288-5711) to spoof callers into thinking the hospital is calling them.  Scammers are then telling them false information about lab results.  Please be careful and know that we would have no reason to call you unless you’re truly awaiting a call from us.  Also note, many calls do come from our departmental lines which begin with 391.  Be vigilant and always question when you feel uncertain!

Phone number spoofing is illegal and causes the Caller ID to display a phone number or other information to make it look like the calls are from a different person or business. While the caller’s information may appear local, the calls are often placed by scam artists located outside the state or country. Spoofing is usually done with malicious or unscrupulous motivations by the caller and it has led many people to believe that you can no longer trust Caller ID.

If you think you’ve been the victim of a spoofing scam, you can file a complaint with the FCC.
